Well, clearly the event was going to be moved indoors – no one even considered holding it outdoors this year. The weather forecast was nothing but rain and cold. So our venue was the McAllen Convention Center, and we were to provide a laser wonderland for people to enter into the building and the festivities, as well as lasers behind bands in two locations.
The entry foyer was a perfect spot to set up Laser Spectacles new “Turret Projector” – this features a 180° Machida Grating effect, the finest of it’s type, that would perfectly fill the space and create a canopy of laser beams for people to walk into, and a great photo opportunity.
And in the far corner of the foyer, a small stage was set up featuring a series of great musical acts, some solo, some bands. We set up four lasers behind the stage projecting out into the room and all over the palm trees and walls.
Inside the big room (the exhibit hall) was a huge carnival with rides and games, and a large stage down at the other end. We performed with the last two headlining acts with two green/gold lasers flanking the stage.
