I was contacted by Stagen, LLC when they were planning their yearly conference for the Stagen Leadership Academy to be held in Dallas at the Statler Hotel. The theme for the event was “Infinity” and they hoped for an animated infinity loop projected on a wall in the ballroom for the conference.
I was ready for this, and quickly had a demo version made up. A fortuitous engagement in Dallas the next week made it possible to look at the test with Stagen in attendance at the hotel! We all agreed that this was going to work, so I got to work on a final version.
After some discussion, we decided that the loop should be constructed in such a was that it could be slowed down and even stopped if desired. At this point I decided to make the app completely interactive using the Lasergraph DSP “Faders” feature – these are physical or virtual sliders that can be programmed into cues to allow for live control of the lasers. I programmed every aspect to be interactive – number of lines, colors, speed, size, etc.
The conference went on for two days, and the Infinity Loop was up on the wall most all the time, and proved to be a big hit! One instructor even made a t-shirt from ani image of the loop.
Here is a short video of the Infinity Loop in action:
